Why Support this Project? 

The Gaza Strip, spanning a mere 140 square miles, is home to over 2 million inhabitants, making it one of the most densely populated areas on the planet. Since 2007, the region has been enduring the severe impacts of an Israeli blockade, which has drastically worsened living conditions for the Palestinian people. This blockade has restricted movement and severely limited access to essential resources.

Electricity is a luxury in Gaza, available only in brief rotating cycles of about 2 hours per day, drastically affecting daily life and hindering essential services. Over 20% of households face the stark reality of living without access to gas, complicating basic cooking and heating needs. Moreover, the situation concerning access to fundamental human necessities such as food and clean water is critically minimal, with many families struggling to secure these basic needs.

The recent bombardments have escalated the situation from a prolonged state of hardship to a full-blown humanitarian crisis. The already fragile infrastructure has been further damaged, and the limited resources are now stretched thinner than ever. This exacerbates the challenges faced by the people in Gaza, from young children to the elderly, all of whom are trying to navigate survival in these harsh conditions.

In this context, our project aims to provide relief and uphold the dignity of those affected. Our approach to sourcing and producing almost all of our products within Gaza's borders goes beyond merely crafting essential items. It represents a profound commitment to invigorating the local economy. Our initiative does more than create jobs by engaging local laborers, seamstresses, manufacturers, and volunteers. It instills a sense of purpose and pride, enabling these individuals to earn a livelihood and become integral contributors to the resilience and growth of their community.

Each care package that emerges from our project is the culmination of the hard work, dedication, and skill of an average of six different individuals. These individuals are not just workers; they are artisans in their own right, each playing a vital role in bringing these bundles to life. Their efforts exemplify a community coming together, pooling its talents and resources for a common good.

But these care packages represent more than mere practical aid. They are crafted sustainably, with every fabric choice and design decision made in consideration of our environment's health and our deep-seated respect for the human spirit. They are imbued with love, care, and compassion, tangible of our commitment to ethical and empathetic production.

Each stitch, seam, and woven pattern has a narrative of hope, solidarity, and empowerment. These narratives echo through the communities of Gaza, illustrating how the act of purchase extends far beyond a commercial transaction. It becomes an exchange of warmth and empathy, warming not just the bodies of those who receive these bundles but also the hearts of everyone involved - from the maker to the giver and, ultimately, to the receiver. Zam Zam Water - Zam Zam is a humanitarian organization devoted to playing a vital role in eradicating poverty by providing clean, sustainable water and access to quality education to villages across the globe. Zam Zam has built 9 water systems in Gaza serving over 12,000 students with our trusted implementing partners on the ground.

The On-Ground Team 

MECA works to protect the health, lives, and rights of children in the Middle East. The primary tools they use are aid, education, and empowerment. Programs include direct humanitarian relief as well as projects to help support income generation. Human rights awareness is also improved by encouraging dialogue on an international level. MECA manages the distribution process and the funds will go directly to their organization.
