      We all want unity and togetherness, but sometimes it's not clear how we can achieve it. We want to do something about the suffering we see our brothers and sisters going through, but sometimes we may feel powerless. 

Ummati platform is intended to create an alternative to wall street and and the financial industry that can help people worldwide build communities and take back some of the power that has fallen into the hands of shady bankers, and to use that power to promote unity and common good rather than selfishness and wastefulness.

     Giving charity and aid is essential, but sometimes it can seem like we are treating the symptoms and not addressing the underlying cause. Ummati is aimed at the root of the issues we are facing today.

An old saying goes, give someone a fish, feed them for a day. Teach them to fish, feed them for a lifetime. 

Ummati platform is seeking to provide a means for people to achieve financial independence and at the same time provide a sense of confidence and self worth to those struggling. This is not just about the rich helping the poor- it's about people helping eachother.

     For the first time in history we have technology that can be used to help people on opposite sides of the world invest in eachother and share profits, according to the same mode of contracts used by the sahaba in Medina(radhi Allahu anhum). We now have the opportunity to become more interconnected than ever before and to transcend the divisions that seperate and weaken us.

​Riba- worse than incest

  A hadith from the prophet, sal Allahu alaihi wasalam, tells us that there are 70 types of riba THE LEAST OF WHICH is as severe a sin as incest. All Christians recognized the need to keep interest totally illegal until a few centuries ago. Now, sadly, many Muslims are following the same route and have become complacent about riba going on all around us. Imagine if incest was happening all around us, how repulsed we would be- and yet what is happening is actually worse!

    If we are unable to stop the evil of riba with our hands, tongues, or hearts, we should at least try to provide an alternative. 

Ummati is striving not only to make true Islamic contracts as were practiced by the sahaba available for the whole ummah- we are trying to support the strength and the unity of the Muslims and the oppressed everywhere so that those who are currently in need of charity can become capable of giving charity, instead.

With unity comes strength, and with strength we can challenge the oppression and injustice that people everywhere are facing, in sha Allah.
