We are seeking support for the publication of internationally acclaimed  photographer Peter Sanders’ landmark photographic essay, “Meetings with Mountains" on the true saints, sages and enlightened beings of Islam. For over 45 years Sanders has traveled the world to find and photograph these exemplars, many of whom had never been photographed before. “Meetings with Mountains” is an absolutely unique visual record of holy men and women from across the Islamic world, who represent the true picture of Islam and present a counter-narrative to the extremism.

"Meetings with Mountains" is unique. No photographer in history has ever been able to capture so many great saints on film. Fifty years in the making, there has never been a book and will never be another book like it. Every photographic encounter Peter recorded was a stage on his own spiritual journey and with each photo he describes his own personal experience with every "Mountain” he meets. This 380 page visual record, with over 250 beautiful photographs illustrates the encounters with nearly 100 illuminated souls. An important book, that aims to show the spiritual depth of Islamic culture and commemorate some of our greatest sages and saints. There has never been a time in our history when this has been more needed.

Publishing "Meetings with Mountains".

Our aim is to have "Meetings with Mountains" published by a world leading photographic book publisher with global distribution and we have already had serious interest from one of the top publishers in the field provided that the book is funded privately. We are raising funds to cover the cost of final proof-reading, editing and design to produce a camera-ready version ready for printing. Once this is achieved, we will seek funding to cover printing and distribution costs, either through private funding or pre-sales of the book.

Over the last 20 years, Peter and his team have brought "Meetings with Mountains" to a final content stage. Your contributions will help to finish the book: the final proof-reading, edit and design.
