The Problem

In the poorest countries in the world, one thing is on a child's mind: survival. They beg or lay bricks for 10 hours a day, sweep and clean homes from morning till evening: all for a bowl of rice. They will do this every day for the rest of your lives. They will not make enough to stay healthy. They will not build a better life. Their children will do the exact same thing. We want to change this.

Our Solution

Provide nutritious meals to those who attend our schools♥

Where will your money go?

You will help feed 1314 children across 14 schools in the slums and refugee camps in Bangladesh and refugee settlements in Malaysia. Your support will feed children in the slums of Dhaka & Chittagong, Rohingya refugee children in the world's largest refugee camp in Cox's Bazar as well as children in the Rohingya, Syrian, Afghan, Iraqi, Somali, Pakistani and other refugee settlements in Malaysia.

Our Projects

Hufadh of the Quran
We help children memorize and study the Quran, so they can one day teach it to others. 21 of our 290 students have completed memorizing the entire Quran by this Ramadan, Alhamdulillah!

Orphans
We prioritize children of single mothers, and parents with disabilities, helping their children find a safe and stable place to eat, sleep, and learn! Our schools are a safe place to eat and learn for 242 orphans, Alhamdulillah.

Child labourers in the slums

In the slums, boys go to work as soon as they can walk and carry a tool. Their parents cannot read, write or do any other work besides the lowest-paying jobs. Their wage is too low to feed their kids, so the children have to earn their meals or go hungry. We give them free meals at schools, where they learn to read, write and build a possibility to escape generational poverty.

Girls education to prevent child marriages

Girls cannot find work as easily and earn as much as boys. Employers prefer boys for manual labour. Often, girls are stuck between going hungry and getting married to a stranger who can afford to feed them. This breaks their parents' hearts, but they go ahead as they cannot afford one meal a day for their daughters.

Our Girls Education program feeds and educates 643 girls daily. We give them security, dignity and hope as they learn and develop for a better future.

Rohingya Refugee Children in Bangladesh
We provide children with balanced diets – fish, chicken, veggies, dairy - alongside schools that provide general and vocational education. Our goal is to arm them with the tools they need to make a living when, in shaa Allah, they can return to normal life.

Refugee children in Malaysia

In Malaysia, refugees are not allowed to work legally. The Rohingya, Syrian, Afghan, Iraqi, Somali, Pakistani and other families who ended up there are surviving from hand to mouth doing illegal labour like helping out at local shops or doing manual work that nobody else wants to do. As the work is illegal, there is no safety net: no minimum wage, no sick leave, no occupational health & safety, even no guarantee that they will be paid at all. Children also go to work as soon as they can to support their families.

Charity Right provides 250 families with supplies for nutritious homecooked meals to ensure their children can afford to go to school full every morning.

Our Results

♥ 14 schools in our care
♥ Over 200,000 meals served in 2021
♥ 1,000+ children fed daily

Our Team

All of our key members have first-hand experience in education, food aid or community work. We are working hard to ensure a focused, sustainable, long-term solution to the world's biggest solvable problem - hunger. We started with a mission to pull children out of poverty, and the more we work the more we see how much more can be done. We appreciate your trust and support.

Ashfaq Zaman, Country Director, Charity Right Bangladesh

Ashfaq has been with Charity Right since its concept stage. Born and raised in Bangladesh, he has a deep understanding of the local community and the struggles of our beneficiaries. He founded three profitable businesses and operates one of them on the days he is not focused on Charity Right.

Hassaan Izhar, Project Manager, Charity Right Malaysia

After several job rotations as an accountant in a for-profit company, Hassaan was becoming increasingly interested to find a more purpose-driven role. He joined as a volunteer at Mercy Mission Malaysia - a non-profit serving the Muslim community. He soon became its Finance Executive, then Finance Manager. As Charity Right was stepping up to tackle the Rohingya refugee crisis, Hassaan took his skills to Charity Right Malaysia to become its Project Manager and be more involved with the beneficiaries. While Hassaan oversees and is responsible for all daily operations, he also makes sure to make regular time to deliver food himself and engage with the beneficiaries.

Ramzy Alamudi, Executive Director, Charity Right Australia

Son of a father heavily involved in community services and a migrant mother who dropped out of high school to help support her family, Ramzy worked as a primary school teacher for seven years. He was particularly passionate to help vulnerable children who needed it most. Seeking to change the outcomes of more than one classroom, Ramzy developed his management and business skills at Seven Skies International Islamic School in Malaysia and Instructure (where he still works) before taking over Charity Right Australia as Executive Director.

Ramia Abdo Sultan, Board Director, Charity Right Australia

Lawyer, advocate, entrepreneur and mother: Ramia handles all of this while still serving the Australian Muslim community. It is her tenth year serving as the Vice President of the Gaza Children’s Fund and her second year as Community Relations Advisor of the Australian National Imams Council. Ramia uses her legal expertise and experience as a community leader to guide Charity Right as a Board Director.

Khalid Hasan, Head of Finance, Charity Right Australia
Khalid is a founding member of Charity Right Australia. Before moving to Sydney, he volunteered in community schools in the slums of Bangladesh, teaching children how to read and write. Khalid studied finance and soon opened his own accounting firm, but he wanted to continue contributing to Charity Right’s mission. Together with a group of friends he decided to open the Australian branch of Charity Right where Khalid now serves as the Finance Director.
