Give to Cambridge Muslim College this Ramadan

WHAT WE DO

Cambridge Muslim College aims, by Allah’s grace, to serve the Muslims of Britain and abroad by offering education at the very highest level. With a full commitment to the values of Islam, the most authentic classical Islamic scholarship, and equipped with a critical and deep awareness of the nature of modernity and contemporary British and European contexts, the College hopes to be a flagship institution of which Muslims everywhere can be deeply proud. We invite all people of goodwill to work together with us to further this vision.

WHERE YOUR DONATION GOES

STUDENT SUPPORT: Our community needs the best and most talented men and women to commit to leadership and service, but many excellent students are unable to apply due to the costs involved. With your support, we are able to offer full or partial scholarships to all our students, and helping our students will remain a key priority.

TEACHING: It is our belief that the best scholars and teachers should be supported by the community to enable them to teach the next generation of scholars. CMC has recruited three full-time lecturers who started at the College in August 2017. Your contribution to teaching will ensure that we can recruit the most talented teachers.

RESEARCH at the College is at the forefront of achieving a genuine and substantive dialogue between the intellectual traditions of Islam and modern Western scholarship. Former research fellows are working at many leading universities and the College will continue to prioritise this crucial area of its work.

SITE DEVELOPMENT: To accommodate the College’s growing activities, it will need to extend its facilities. A generous supporter has purchased a nearby building on our behalf and our long term plan includes the construction of a new building on our existing site.

Training the Next Generation of Muslim Thinkers

The Diploma in Contextual Islamic Studies & Leadership is a one-year course designed to help those who already possess a significant training in the Islamic sciences to develop, articulate and implement their knowledge effectively in Britain today. It is also aimed at helping students with a background in traditional Islamic studies to go on to join the mainstream of British further education.

We now have over 85 alumni who have gone on to contribute to their local communities or engage in higher education.

Excellence in Islamic Scholarship

CMC offers a BA (Hons) in Islamic Studiesa unique course rooted in authentic Islamic scholarship and engaged with the pressing issues of our time. The programme includes:

- a year of intensive Arabic training in partnership with Qasid Institute in Jordan

- course work drawing most importantly on the core curriculum of the al-Fath Academy (Ma’had al-Fath) in Damascus and the programme at al-Azhar University.

- a set of modules in Contextual Knowledge and Skills, designed to allow students to think about how to contextualise and apply their learning in Islamic Studies in the most appropriate and beneficial ways.

- high calibre lecturers with classical Islamic training, completing doctorates at Cambridge and Oxford

Engaging in Relevant Research

Cambridge Muslim College research fellows conduct cutting edge research on subjects at the intersection of religion and science, such as artificial intelligence and the nature of consciousness.

CMC also brings together scholars to discuss issues related to the history and development of British Muslim communities.
